The Problem with Strategic Innovation
Strategic initiatives are key to a company's growth, yet they more often than not fail to meet expectations. Company leadership cites “executional excellence” as the main reason, but what exactly does that mean? People? Process? Plans? Assuming the fundamental strategy is sound, the implication is that existing resources are lacking in some way for the task at hand.
We’ve reviewed a range of research and grouped the cited problems into four key areas; Structure, Culture, Capability and yes, Strategy. Several underlying factors have been identified and are being explored to develop a framework for catalyzing a strategic initiative without disrupting the existing enterprise.
